Wenatchee AppleSox

Gibson, Moffitt, and Ponce are just the beginning. Others will follow. Coming back as a tight knit team knowing the each other’s patterns as each one grows better. Once a young team just getting to know each other. 2023 is going to look like a season of synchronize swimming. At least…that’s what we’re hoping for.

When I first moved to Wenatchee, everyone would ask me a million questions as if they worked at Dutch Bros. The number one question was, “You just moved here? What brings you to Wenatchee?”

I know, we’re ankle deep in snow and Wenatchee Wild games, but I’m already dreaming of warm summer days and heading over to Paul Thomas Sr. Field for another season with the Wenatchee AppleSox. How odd was seeing an AppleSox post on Instagram with a bunch of photos of the stadium seats covered in snow. It’s like when two seasons collide!

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a workaholic. I love what I do. It gives me the opportunity to be creative in so many ways. But when I look back at all the things I did in 2022, there were less than a handful of fun things that I did. And they were all work related. I rarely got out. I get out out bed, head into work. After work, I go home, take a shower, go to bed. Are you like me? Eek! I hope not. Maybe you’re not as bad as me. So how can we make a change? It all boils down to two things.

This was an interview I’ve been looking forward to all year. I tried to get a few words with him in his younger days. Of course as the Baby New Year, it was all incomprehensive gaga-googoo gibberish. In his teen days, it was hard to pin him down, for his time is limited. But now that his time is coming to a close, he had something to say. Although his words were few, and sometimes speaking gibberish much like when he was the Baby New Year of 2022.

We all know about the endearing or creepy Elf on the Shelf. The popularity of the stuffed childhood red or green elf resurged back in 2005 after Carol Aebersold and her daughter, Chanda Bell published the book, Elf on the Shelf. A story about the scout elves that are watching to see if we’re naughty or nice. And when you’re not looking, they would fly back to the North Pole and report back to Santa.

One of my favorite traditions, unique to baseball is the walk-up songs. You know. The song that starts playing when a home team player steps up to the home plate with bat in hand. A feel good tune that energizes the player and charges up the fans.
