Hard to imagine that while it’s 100 degrees and the Wenatchee AppleSox are swinging the bats at Paul Thomas Sr. Field, the Wenatchee Wild are gearing up to swing the hockey sticks at the Town Toyota Center.

I recently hung out with our buddy, “Coach Clarky” (Chris Clark), head coach of your Wenatchee Wild, when he stopped by the Kissin’ Booth. He reminded me that, tis the season where the Wild are looking for billet families to host the incoming hockey players who will suit up and start up a new season on the ice. “(We’re looking for) families willing to open up their homes for the season, provide a room for a player and a ton of love. These kids are moving away from home, some 16, 17, 18 years old.” “It’s an experience that I promise you, will last a life time.”

And Clarky knows this first hand, reminiscing when he played junior hockey as a high school student. “I always had quality billet families, people I still talk to, to this day. One family who lives in Victoria, every time (the Wild) go up there to play, they come to the games, we get together, and catch up.”

This season, the Wenatchee Wild will be looking for 63 beds. So if you have a heart for this, or if you just have questions, call 509.888.7825. And think about this! There’s the added bonus of tickets to the Wenatchee Wild games!
